At night, the primary goal of a Newborn Care Specialist (NCS) is to ensure an infants health and help parents get some sleep. The NCS feeds, burps, changes, and then settles the infant back to sleep. If one is nursing, the NCS can even bring the infant right to the bedside and help get them latched if necessary. Most importantly, the NCS settles your infant into a healthy, safe sleep routine that promotes neonatal health and well being.

Other features of a Newborn Care Specialist include but are not limited to:

  • Provides overnight care of newborn.
  • Has certified training in CPR and First Aid.
  • Helps newborn develop consistent sleep schedule.
  • Allows parents to get worry free rest.
  • Assists parents in night feedings.
  • Can be an extra "pair of hands."
  • May accompany parents to hospital.
  • Often lives in or travels with family.
  • Can be a source of information.
  • Can be a teacher.

And lastly, the Newborn Care Specialist acts as a close contact point of reference. The NCS often has access to a wide range of medical, mental health, and lifestyle professionals that can address any and all needs of the infant and/or parents which may arise. As a family team member, the NCS helps ensure a family can achieve an optimum quality of life during these most exciting and hectic times.
